The battery cover from this isn't secure so it falls off fairly easily along with the battery. Most of the other Trackmaster trains have a screw to prevent this from happening but this one doesn't. This is a bit hazardous as a little kid and batteries don't mix. I caught my 3 year old about to put the battery in his mouth.
The other annoying thing about it is it uses C batteries which is one of my pet peeves for children's toys. I'm all for using rechargeable batteries b/c kids will run these batteries dry fast and having to constantly replace the battery is a bit wasteful in my opinion. It would've been better if they used AA or AAA batteries which you can easily find rechargeable batteries for.
Lastly, after 2-3 weeks of play, one of the wires connecting the battery car to the motor car broke. I was able to splice the wire back together so all was not lost but it demonstrated how poorly made this toy is.
Other than those complaints, it runs well on the tracks and my kids have fun with it.
